New Horizons mission to Pluto.
It looks very promising for a clear night, in which case we will head to the research telescopes and binoculars to catch the sights within and around the “Summer triangle” before it slips from view.

GEMINIDS METEOR SHOWER.
Tolcarn will be open for the Geminids Meteor shower from noon on the 13th December to the 14th December 2014 for the Geminids meteor shower. This shower has a ZHR rating of 100, meaning on average you will see 100 an hour. Should be a great show.

ROSETTAS PROBE PHILAE.
At 0903hrs GMT November 12th 2014 Rosettas lander Philae detached successfully on its way down to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Fingers crossed it will land safely. Images courtesy of ESA.

Wednesday November 12th at 0903am GMT the Rosetta probe orbiting Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko will launch the lander probe Philae for a landing on the comet 7 hours later.
